St. Donatus’ Church (or Church of St.Donat) is probably the most famous historical monument in Zadar and one of the most recognizable ones in Croatia.
Church of St.Donat is pre-Romanesque church built by the bishop Donatus in the 9th Century. It served many purposes during the history of Zadar. For a long time it was a warehouse and during the early 20th Century it served as a archeological museum
Its simple but unique architecture and acoustic features make Church of St. Donat a very popular musical stage for various music and art events including the very popular “Musical Evenings in Saint Donat”.
