Inevitable stop in the daily walk trough the old town is a place which you don’t have to search. It would be enough to smell around or just to listen carefully and you will hear the murmur of the local fishmongers selling the fresh fish. The local fish market is located just a few steps away from the northern part of the promenade. If you want to buy something really good, you should come early in the morning as the best deal usually goes to the local restaurants around. Although Split doesn’t have its Molly Malone or legend alike, the fish market is also very well visited.
Maybe the reason are also the medical spas nearby, built at the place of one of the numerous city sulphur springs (one of the reasons why Diocletian, who suffered from rheumatism, decided to built his palace nearby).
