This Baroque church is dedicated to the patron, saint and protector of Dubrovnik – St Blaise. The church was constructed in the year of 1715.
One interesting thing – in the fire in the saint’s former church, which existed until 1706. (Romanesque style) in the same location, only the gold plated statue of St. Blaise remained intact and even today is kept above the altar.
The stone sculptures of Dubrovnik’s patron saint are everywhere, in the church itself, on its roof, on the city gates, forts, palaces and in many other places within the city walls.
To fully enjoy the beauty of the Old Town Dubrovnik, one must sit on the stairs in front of the St Blaise church and experience vivid joy of past and modern times.
